With the boom of technology and the work from home jobs, we as a society sit more than ever before. There are also many sedentary seasons in our life like commuting far for work, postpartum recovery, and healing from other surgeries or illnesses, and more. While it doesn't seem like a big deal- here's whats happening in your pelvic floor.

When we sit like a shrimp (hunched over and neck forward) your pelvis goes into what we call a "posterior pelvic tilt" meaning your scooping your tailbone up and under you.

Your deep pelvic floor muscles are then forced to clench, tighten, and actually shorten to hold this position. This also pulls along the back muscles and puts pressure on organs like the uterus, rectum and bladder. Owch! So, what kind of domino effect takes place once your body defaults to this position?
